Great Ocean Road

The Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge and the Otway rainforest — a long coastal drive from Melbourne, done in one private car with one driver.

Discover Great Ocean Road

The Great Ocean Road was built between 1919 and 1932 by returned soldiers, as a memorial to the men who did not come back. It runs 243 kilometres along Victoria's southern coast. The driving is the part most visitors underestimate, and it is the part we take off you.

The Twelve Apostles are why most people come: limestone stacks standing off the cliff line, seen from the clifftop boardwalk. Loch Ard Gorge is a few minutes further on, along with London Bridge, the Arch and Thunder Cave.

Inland, the Great Otway National Park is temperate rainforest — tree ferns, waterfalls and the Otway Fly treetop walkway. Lorne and Apollo Bay are the usual lunch stops. Tell us how much of this you want in one day and we set the route and the departure time around it.

Where else this road goes

Continue past the Twelve Apostles to Adelaide

The day tour turns around at the Apostles. This route keeps going — Mount Gambier, the Coorong and the Barossa, over seven to nine days.

The Grampians

Sandstone ranges, waterfalls and lookouts, inland from the coast.

Mornington Peninsula

The other coastline, and a gentler day.

Flying into Avalon?

Avalon is the closest airport to the coast. We can start the day at the terminal instead of in the city.

Melbourne After Dark

An evening in the city — laneway bars, rooftop views and dinner, with nobody driving home.

Practical Information

Tour Essentials

Duration
10–12 hours, door to door. This is the longest of our day routes, so it normally uses the full window. If your day runs longer, the additional time is charged at your vehicle's hourly rate.
Departure Time
Agreed with you when you book. An earlier start suits this one: the Twelve Apostles are around four hours out. Daylight hours change through the year, so we set the pick-up time to suit the season and your itinerary rather than fix it in advance.
Vehicle & Capacity
Matched to your group: Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 for couples; Toyota Alphard, Alphard 40, Mercedes-Benz V-Class or Kia Carnival for families and small groups; Mercedes-Benz Sprinter for larger parties. Tell us the group size and roughly what luggage you have, and the vehicle is confirmed with your quote.
Included
Private vehicle and chauffeur for the full day, tolls and GST. One fixed price, quoted before you book — no surge pricing and no per-kilometre extras.
Not Included
Entry tickets, tastings and activity fees are not included. Meals and drinks are not included. On this route that includes the Otway Fly Treetop Walk. You pay these directly on the day, so you decide where you eat and what you spend.
Child Seats
Baby capsules and booster seats are supplied free of charge on request. Tell us your children's ages when you book so the right seats are fitted before pick-up.
Payment
Payment in full confirms the booking. Major credit cards and bank transfer accepted.
Cancellation
Free cancellation more than 24 hours before pick-up. Within 24 hours, 50% of the fare is charged. Tours run in all weather. If a tour cannot go ahead on the day because of an official closure, we reschedule it at no cost.
